Logen Ninefingers A Glaswegian quartet that has gained cult status in their home-town. This LP is detailed and complicated, see-sawing from one segment to the next, with inventive jangly, post-hardcore guitar squall (think Thurston Moore & Lee Ranaldo style interplay) and an inherent prettiness that bubbles underneath, reminding of Women, the catchy chorus of ‘ ‘Once Powerful Uncle’ being an obvious example. They're a very clever band that incorporate their influences and concoct something unique. Favorite track: Once Powerful Uncle.

Ronnie Hotdogs file alongside the likes of long hair in three stages / 10x my age / i hope it lands etc and yes it’s just as good as any of those Favorite track: Once Powerful Uncle.

jimtheschoolgirl sounds like something I've been seeking forever but unable to accurately describe enough to find it, and now it's just here and it's great, love it x

It’s Lost Map Records’ honour to announce the debut album by one of Glasgow’s greatest ever cult bands, angular art-rock surrealists the mighty Herbert Powell. The forever delayed Here In My Scheme, Here It Ends will be released November 5, 2021 on limited-edition CD-R and digital platforms.

Formed nearly a decade ago by Kieran Thomas (vocals, bass), ‘Romeo’ Taylor Stewart (drums), Kay Logan (guitar) and Billy Gaughan (guitar), Herbert Powell played many a memorable, messy show on the Glasgow underground circuit, attracting a wildly enthusiastic following among likeminded weirdos. Yet, no proper recordings of their music were released, before the band disappeared in mysterious circumstances.

Kay has gone on to make acclaimed music as Time Binding Ensemble, Outlet Archive, Helena Celle and as a member of the Iggy Pop-approved band Anxiety, as well as produced the SAY Award nominated debut album by Comfort. Kieran plays in the band Snout. Billy plays in Rapid Tan alongside Taylor, who has also played with Savage Mansion and launched a solo career as Romeo Taylor, whose hits include viral rave anthem ‘The Kingdom of Scotland’.

Now, all of sudden, Herbert Powell are back. A statement from the band’s spokesperson is as follows:

“After meeting at the prestigious Lanarkshire Rock School in 2013, Herbert Powell were selected as part of an experiment funded by multinational conglomerate Bert Investments.

“As a result of being forced to listen to artists such as Captain Beefheart, Thinking Fellers Local Union 282 and U.S. Maple against their will, they were left with no choice but to become an avant-garde rock quartet. Their unbreakable contract with the hedge fund has seen them perform regularly across many venues and has finally forced them to produce a recorded document of their work.

“This document was recorded by the band in utmost secrecy using their patented and exclusive Tri-Sound Technology at an underground Bert Investments facility and will be released in 2021 with the title Here In My Scheme, Here It Ends...”
