about

Lost Map Records are delighted to welcome the return of London’s Lazy Day, following their now sold-out Record Store Day 2015 split 7” single with Tuff Love (‘Portait’ / ‘Groucho’). The lo-fi dreamy-grunge quartet’s new track ‘Disappear will be released as a 7” single on November 4, 2016.

“I wrote ‘Disappear’ in the summer of 2012 when Lazy Day was a very quiet and almost secret thing,” recalls Tilly. “I actually remember coming up with the melody for the chorus when I was cycling back home in London. Then later that summer I went to America with my family and recorded the first demo of ‘Disappear’. I snuck my dad’s laptop when him and my mum were trying to watch Mad Men – but this demo was more important. We were staying near the ocean and in the background of the track you could hear the seabirds which I always liked. Fast- forward four years and I had the Lazy Day band together, and with them I got to develop ‘Disappear’ into a fully formed thing. Even though it has the added weight of the full band behind me, I wanted to make sure that parts of the song were quite bare in its production – to stay true to the private, intimate and quite lonely spirit of the original demo.

“’Disappear’ is about being let down or forgotten about,” Till adds. “About someone who only sees themselves and so doesn't see you: ‘You see straight through me / You never give it away / Disappear on me so fast / Forever talking about you.’ The song starts out isolated, but builds into something bigger than just me, something way more confident.”

Both ‘Disappear’ and ‘All The Time’ were recorded by Lazy Day’s own bassist Jonny Coddington with his company Bottle Rocket Recording at The Crows’ Nest Studios. Both songs were mixed by Adrian Hall (credits include Anna Calvi, Goldfrapp) at Clever Pup Studios.
